Episode 170 – Would You Just Go Away Already?!

The hosts talk about anime that they feel has outlived it’s welcome in the anime community.  From decade long shows with rabid fangirls squealing in the halls of anime conventions.  To shows that weren’t that good to begin with inspiring cosplay decisions that are even worse.  Get ready for an hilarious time as the hosts don’t hold any opinions on the matter back!

Anime that you believe have overstayed their welcome in terms of rabid fandom, cosplay, merchandise, sequels/ova’s

Fullmetal Alchemist – The original FMA came out back in 2003, and while it has inspired a number of movies and a complete revamp – brotherhood – I am so tired of hearing about Ed and Alphonse.

Macross Frontier – This series is everywhere in Japan still and the popularity of characters such as Sheryl Nome and Ranka Lee ring out as unwelcome in my mind.  I’m ready for new Macross and new Macross girls

Ouran High Host Club – Really, why is this still so popular at conventions?  This also came out in 2006 originally and wasn’t even that much to speak on then.

Evangelion – Chiaki’s just gonna say it, Chiaki’s gonna hate, whatchu gonna do about it but seriously Eva I am so tired of your face.

Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya – This one is also 10 years old now coming out in 2003 and DAAAAAAAMN when it inspires literally the longest anime movie EVER MADE why?  Not to mention the cosplay isn’t even that inspiring.

Sora no Otoshimono – This show about a guy who wants to stuff panties into his mouth and an “angel” droid who is his slave does NOT deserve sequels!

Bleach – I know it’s longevity comes from generic shonan show power, but it wasn’t even really that good the little I have watched.  And no one in Japan seems to give a damn either.

One Piece – Channeling the same powers as Bleach One Piece has brought shonen shows to a new extreme, the original manga has been going on since 1997, and the anime has been going on since 1999, well over a decade of Monkey D Luffy, let it die!!!  Plus, Chiaki doesn’t even really like the artwork….

Hetalia (obviously) – This show just had a new season aire and I must say that I don’t give a shit.  Do we really need MORE of the same comedy bs from Hetalia?  I’ve had enough of the cosplayers.  At least in Japan cosplay is much more rare and nobody would dare to be obnoxious in public so I don’t have to worry about it here.

Gurren Lagann – I even enjoyed this series but let’s face it the best part of the series was in the first 13 episodes and everyone watched the other 13 hoping for some mirror of that glory.  But because of how solid those 13 episodes were they’ve created a number of die-hard fans and Kamina cross-plays that just…. just…. should not exist.

Death Note – Aren’t you 13 year-olds tired of toting around that black notebook yet?  And I swear if I see one more baggy jeans white t-shirt and bruised looking eyes L cosplay walking around a con I may scream!

Vampire Knight – it’s sad I even have to say this but can we move on ladies?  I’m so tired of vampire lust… Thank you Twilight.
