About yourself:  I have been an anime lover even since my mother purchased My Neighbor Totoro some 20 years ago. Since that time I have moved through many phases of anime viewing; watching Toonami after school on Cartoon Network, purchasing DVDs during high school, watching anime on Netflix during college, running my college anime club for almost 6 years, and finally starting an anime podcast. During this time, I watched over 400 anime of all lengths and genres.

Anime is a special thing for me. It allows the viewer to go places that other forms of entertainment cannot. Only in anime can you find the existence of Magical Girls, Gundams, dragon balls, excessive violence and so much more. Many people who do not watch anime cannot understand it because it is so different from all other forms of entertainment. People are confused by the things they see but we know why we love anime and we know why it is great. Never be put down by the negative opinions of the ignorant mass.

On this podcast I try to give the viewer a more serious perspective into what anime is and should be. Often my opinions represent the more mature audience, sometimes straying from ecchi or other immature anime themes.  Having a master’s degree in business, I am always willing to opine about the state of the anime industry.  I also am the “podcast grumpy man” as Roukou would put it and am sometimes critical of the subject matter in anime and the quality of its writing.

Yet, despite all the seriousness, I also make it my role to inject humor into the podcast and often enjoy “poking” Chiaki and Kimiko for the listener’s entertainment. Behind the scenes, my role on the podcast is producer and networking organizer.

Enjoy the podcast and never hesitate to email me at aaaMitsugi@gmail.com if you have any questions at all!
