The addicts have had a few hosts come and go over the years, a multitude of guest hosts and others come in and out of the podcast scene. But, four have remained true to the cause, showing how deep their addiction runs with the dedication of watching dozens of bad episodes of anime, showing up week after week, and helping run the show you know and love.
Chiaki – Webmistress Extraordinaire
Her primary duties: Keeping the website running and maintaining iTunes and other graphical and technical operations.
She says: I’m a fan of just about any kind of anime. I draw anime in my free time in just about every medium I can think of. I traveled to Japan in Fall 2009 to study abroad at Kansai Gaidai in Hirakata City and lived there for the following six months. I think it was the best time of my life. I was the president of my school’s anime club for two years, and still attend as I go to graduate school. At time’s I can be your typical girl and look for the most romantic anime I can find, filled with bishounen and more. Other times, I prefer the more deliciously dark genres like Higurashi or Aoi Bungaku. It’s hard to pick my favorite anime, kind of like picking your favorite song, but Revolutionary Girl Utena will always have a soft spot in my heart along with Orphen – it’s hard to beat your first.
Mitsugi – Editor and General Manager
His primary duties: It’s hard to keep these crazy kids together but someone’s gotta do it, and that someone is Mitsugi. Other than being the primary coordinator for the show he edits all the recordings and manages the mixer.
He says: “My first anime, which I watched at age four, was Tonari no Totoro, My Neighbor Totoro in English. My real anime viewing started around age ten, sitting in front of Toonami on Cartoon Network watching Dragon Ball Z. Since then I have added over 350 anime series and movies to my anime repertoire. During college, I decided to take my anime knowledge and reestablish the anime club at my school, and after graduating decided to pursue a new adventure, podcasting! Some of my favorite animes include Great Teacher Onizuka, Grave of the Fireflies, The Twelve Kingdoms, Samurai X(OVA), Clannad, and Hajime no Ippo. I am simply a passionate anime lover who wants to help enrich the anime community by offering up to the minute news, and helpful reviews intended to help people make informed viewing decisions.”
Kimiko – Press Relations
Her primary duties: Want to get in touch with the addicts? Looking to come onto the podcast and be a guest? Want the addicts at a con? Then Kimiko is your girl! She handles all scheduling for guests, events and more for the A.A.A.
She says: “I live my life by pretty much one motto—I’ll try anything once! Same applies to anime ^_^ I’ve watched everything from Berserk to Tokyo Mew Mew and loved every minute. In fact, there are very few anime that I won’t watch a second, third, fourth… *cough* you get what I mean. Aside from that, I’m a writer much like Shigure. (“Novelist! Novelist!”) I’ve got a novel well under way and have many a short story or screenplay or smut novel… O.o … What? Who said that? >.< Anywho! Like my motto proclaims, I’ve tried my share of hobbies from Diabolo *applauds Rozetta’s brilliance in Kaleido Star* to aerial work (like Cirque, for those of you who were wondering <3) to singing *picks up microphone* Doshite doooooshite! *looks around for Takuto to no avail* T-T *sighs* Maybe next time… Anywho! Never judge an anime by its title… or plot line… and always make sure your Zanpakutou is sharpened to perfection. Until next time!”
Roukou – The Purveyor of Perversity
His primary duties: Roukou first joined the podcast as a hentai-episode only host. Focusing on the nastiest stuff in hentai on either side of the ocean. Now he is a full host and maintains the addicts Youtube channel. He is also the only host outside of Florida, up in Maine.
He says: “I am a pre-veterinary student at the University of Maine. I’m funny, loud, and get myself into trouble sometimes. My passion is working with tigers and big cats. I started watching anime when I was young, with my first being My Neighbor Totoro. I got into anime when I first saw Dragon Ball Z on Cartoon Network ages ago. My favorite anime is Great Teacher Onizuka, because Onizuka is simply such an amazing character. IPHOONIZUKA!! I would have to say my favorite genres of anime would have to be comedy, action and horror (like Higurashi).”
