I am really excited to hear what anime in this spring lineup you guys are interested in or dislike since Kimi To Boku (You and Me) has another season (seriously wtf), so break out the vodka/gin/whiskey/beer/sake/other alcoholic beverage for a drinking game!

It took me until the second trailer to figure out that the main character in Eureka 7 AO is probably the child of Renton and Eureka. It too Chiaki 2 seconds.

Not only is it a non-American bias (or just an ignorance of it) but I think, Old Man Mitsugi, that Battle Royale is a leetle old. Within the community of Americans who actually appreciate anime/manga, you still have people who don't want to watch stuff that's pre-90s, or even 90s anime!

I think that rather than just reading it for free on mangafox, buy the single issues or ultimate editions (like 700 pages each!) or the blu-ray of the movie, which came out about a month or so ago.

A live action American version was in the works, but guess what movie killed that? So, Mitsugi, thank The Hunger Games for killing what could have been yet another soulless American remake.

think the shooting in 2006 shelved the plan, and then THG was announced.

pity because if there's ever a BR remake it will be seen as a THG copycat by the public

Absolutely. That's the sad fact of it. I wouldn't mind another Japanese movie based on BR.

They did say that they're calling in 2 Big Guns to pick up the slack for a missing Roukou.

It's still funny to hear Mitsugi's perception on F/Z as it showed he has a misconception of what the story is about. Keep in mind that all participants have different motivations coming into this war, not just "kill everyone else at all cost". There are ones that want to prove himself, to show superiority as a magi, to support another participant, to claim what is truly his, to have revenge, and then there's one that just doesn't know and doesn't care about the war at all.

And then you have the servants. To some of them this is like a sport tournament, an once in a lifetime opportunity to duel against other heroic figures in a 1v1 fight at both's prime. It's even illustrated in ep11 when someone suggested another way to sort out who gets the prize instead of deathmatch.

There's no penalty for not go all out to seek death in other participants. The clash in the attitudes is what makes this a lot more interesting than say Mirai Nikki where it's just monotone. Do remember death is not necessary to determine a winner.

What I like about this setup is that Urobuchi can have enough time to build characters. By now, bar one, you will know what all of them is like, what their struggle is, what their desire is, and what they want to get out from this war. Now I'm not saying that you must feel sad for them once they exit the stage, but this way the writer is able to build a cast of interesting characters. This is a character driven show.

One last trivia, Saber is suppose to be bullied in the first half anyway, with that ambush and constant disruptions. So you are not offending anyone with your statement, but I'm pretty sure that your perception of her will change fairly quickly.
