Firstly, just letting you know that there's something wrong with the song at the beginning in the mp3 file. There's just 2 minutes of silence, but there's nothing wrong with the show after that.

If you have watched all the other seasons and are a hardcore fan and if you feel there's something I really should watch or really should know let me know.

Well I wouldn't call myself a hardcore fan, but I've seen all seasons and own a few manga, so I can probably tell you something.
You're right that you can watch the fourth season without seeing the first three. This show is very character driven and basically consists of short stories about youkai. Each episode tells one story, although in the third season we've seen the first few story "arcs" of 2 episodes.
I very much recommend watching the first episode of the first season, it will tell you about 70% of what you really need to know. There are some returning characters and there is some character development in later episodes, but I think the first episode covers most of the setting.
The rest of the seasons are definately worth watching. I don't normally like episodic anime at all, but these stories are so well done that it doesn't bother me at all. Hope you like it as much as I do!
Oh, almost forgot to mention that the "cat" in this anime is adorable and very funny.

Mitsugi on horror anime:

There aren't that many horror anime so when you get one, jump on it.

Here you go. No this is actually a GOOD vampire horror anime, not like that Dance in the Vampire Bund that you watched. (which wasn't horror at all)
About "Another", I was very excited about it as well... until I saw that the director also did Blood-C. I was already laughing when you searched for the director's works, knowing you'd have the same reaction. Well let's hope he makes something good this time.

Maybe Kron's talking about the slow pacing in the first few episodes. It's definately worth sticking around though.

Now that we're talking about awesome recent anime. Chiaki, did you already review Steins;Gate? I hope you didn't drop it, especially in the second half this show gets really good.
