Does anyone know about hi10p encodes?

Postby JackHanma » Sat Dec 17, 2011 10:51 am

I recently noticed a bunch of jerks started switching encodes to hi10p but despite switching my players settings to LAV the audio cracks all the time. I've tried VLC player, Windows Media Basic, CCCP codecs, everything except coreAVC because I've to cheap to pay the 12 bucks.

I also keep getting these color haze like it rendering sucks...

Damn techies....always switching before anyone less than a genius level hacker can manage to make it work correctly.

Google is always your friend and overlord. You should try it sometimes. I copy and paste the info from this link.

But seriously why download when you can stream.

How to play back Hi10P content:

There are a number of different methods available to achieve (smooth) Hi10P playback:

Download the SMplayer standalone, or just use mplayer2 from the CLI
Grab the latest CCCP and use the player that comes with it (CCCP will dither everything down to 8 bit before rendering. You might also run into performance issues on slower hardware
Use MPC-HC together with madVR and LAV (jump to guide) (maximum quality but needs a bit of configuration + tweaking)
Download the latest unstable build of VLC Media Player (you really shouldn’t be using VLC) and install it
If you’re having trouble playing Hi10P due to performance reasons, CoreAVC 3 is now out, but it still has some issues. Oh, and apparently worse performance than ffdshow. Never mind this, don’t install CoreAVC except for 8-bit software decoding (oh, LAV Video has faster CUDA decoding as well for 8-bit)

Pick one!

Mplayer2 (and SMplayer by extension) will be fine for most users, especially those who want something that just works out of the box. For the maximum playback quality however, you’ll need to use MPC-HC + madVR as shown below.

If you use some other operating system like GNU/Hurd/Linux/Haiku/BSD/VMX/OS/2/MS-DOS/Menuet/BareMetalOS/whatever, it’s the same deal — just get mplayer2 or VLC.

On Mac OS X, get Mplayer OSX with these binaries if you want OC and other neat stuff.

I seem to have the same problem lately. When playing hi10p or sometimes also 1080p the video seems to play slightly slower, which causes the audio to stop every few seconds so that the video can catch up. I found out this has something to do with the subs, because when I disable them it works fine. Especially when they place subs in a different place (like during karaoke OPs and EDs) it causes problems with the video.

I'm using CCCP with Media Player Classic, but I've been avoiding hi10p and 1080p lately.

Fansub streams often seem to be in low quality and I often have buffering problems. I hate having to wait halfway in an episode because the video catched up to the buffering. >.<

There is the option of finding .mp4, or .avi, or .flv. The fansubs are usually embedded.

Also, unless you hook up your hmi cable to your 40+ inch HDTV screen, 1040p is useless, and waste of space.

Also, just like downloading, if your connection is slow, pause it and do something else. 3- 4 minutes later the video data should be loaded and good to go.

Also, clear your cache or permanently set it to not save history. It will improve your speed. That is what I'm told.
