Which should I choose?

I planning on cosplaying at convention that comming up in october and I can't make up my mind what I want to go as. I'm either going to go as
Gihren Zabi from Mobile Suit Gundam





or Gene Star wind From Outlaw Star

Hmmm... here's how I would generally choose between two costumes like this, Chiaki's Checklist!

1) Which do you look more like? I'm talking mainly face and height.

2) Do you have to buy a wig for either, or both? Because wigs are expensive.

3) What is your body like? Gene Starwind is well, ripped, to be frank. Even if you're not it's hard to pull off a body suit carrying any extra weight. Especially one that is as thin as his (trust me I know).

4) How much of the costume will you sew, and how handy are you? You can likely buy the base parts for the gundam one. Black long coat and long pants. Modifying it will be fairly simple, craft foam, extra fabric, ect. So if you're not very crafty and know a bunch about sewing and don't have any friends that'll likely be easier than Gene. You will likely -have- to sew the long cloak for Gene's costume and make the gloves and shoes. Trust me the Devil is in the Details and Gene's costume has a lot of them. But, it could also be a fun costume to attempt.

5) How many people do you want to recognize you? I'm not sure which one is more obscure but if it's your first cosplay you may want to pick something lots of people will recognize you in, unless you LOVE one character over another. It's no fun really when no one recognizes you.

I'm 23 with an average build and have red straight hair. And I've started to work out to get in shape. I weigh about 212 lb.

well being someone who has never cosplayed him self or ever been to a con. my expert opinion says you must go as the epicness of gene starwind because we all know you just want to put on that skin tight body suit just have a pair of socks at the ready, i mean you dont what to on a poor show, huh? HUH?

but with a bit of seriousness, i feel you show go as the character that you really want to and how well you can pull it off beening the second thought and then cost :S i mean people should expect you get your self a ripped sixpack just to poetry a character.
