Over done cosplay

Postby Jecht » Sat Sep 04, 2010 9:16 pm

If you have ever been to a convention im sure you have noticed it once or twice. You know, that one costume that everyone has on. You question “is that show really that big right now, for that many people to be dressed up as [blank]”. This thread is all about that! What cosplay do you think is WAY over done? That costume that you are guaranteed to see at every convention.

5) Naruto (every kid that has ever walked into a Hot Topic has picked up a head band and is rocking that thing at every convention)

4) Bleach caption (its to the point that they sell the jackets in the deals room T_T )

3) furry ( when was the last time you have even seen a furry in a anime? But people keep strapping cat/fox/dog ears and a tail on and calling it done)

2) Japanese school girl/boy ( most people just buy the clothes and pick what show they are cosplaying as later. Lets face it about 60% of anime takes place in school)

1) Final Fantasy ( not just all of FF but mostly Cloud. HOLY S**T I have seen SO MANY CLOUDS! I have seen good ones, bad ones, new cloud, old cloud, box cloud, and even sun girl Cloud http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?pi ... 464&ref=nf

I'm surprised Death Note isn't on your list. Sure, it's died down, but holy crap, there was a time where you couldn't swing a dead cat over your head without hitting some form of DN cosplayer.

Lol.

Pokemon gijinka is getting up there in popularity. Soon to be overdone; I'm calling it before it "happens".

Furry and Kemonomimi are VERY different things. Don't ever make that comparison again.

Hmm... Kemonomimi, never heard of it. After a quick google-ing I see what you mean. So Strike Witches is Kemonomimi? what about Eflen liad? She has cat ear looking bone things, is that Kemonomimi? What about Spice and Wolf?

Spice and wolf yes definitely, Strike witches has Kemonomimi elements, so yeah. Elfen Lied, no. Horns =/= ears/tails. That's like asking if elephants have 4 ears.

Ciel Phantomhive (of Black Butler fame) and anyone from Hetalia. I have not seen Hetalia, nor do I think I will ever, but at Anime North this year, I saw literaly HUNDREDS of Hetalia cosplayers, with flags waving and catchphrases flying left and right. I even got a hug from a France for some reason, only find out he passed me "AIDs", which I then passed to America. Yep, I'm a jerk.

I'd like to add Vocaloid to this list.

I don't so much mind the costumes that are from the fan made AMVs (like magnet, for example), in fact, I'm thinking of doing one myself.

But if I see one more eBay bought generic Hatsune Miku costume I may scream.
