Wigs???

So Neko-chan and I are wanting to cosplay for the con we're going to in November. She's wanting to cosplay as Rika Furude and I want to go as Mion Sonozaki, both characters from Higurashi. We have ways to get/make the outfits, but we'll have to get wigs, and I'm not sure how to go about that. I want a decent wig, but I don't want to spend a ton for it along with paying for the con, gas, food, and a hotel room... So should I try raiding costume stores and stuff when it gets closer to Halloween? Help! XD

Halloween shops are good in a pinch... but with Halloween shops you get what you pay for, normally cheap, tangly, fake-looking wigs that really don't match much.

The best wigs I've bought were off ebay from Hong Kong. Those have been the best for me with quality/price. They take like 2 weeks to ship though, since it's normally el cheapo standard shipping... But if you order far enough in advance that's not a problem.

One issue is you'll need a pony-tail... And one thing to think about with wigs is that they are very hard to alter as far as up dos and stuff. Since the hair is sewn in it's hard to do stuff with it without looking weird. So putting a high pony tail like that just from a straight long wig will be hard if that's what you're thinking of.

So you can clip it onto a short wig. Given that you need a pony tail getting a short wig and gelling it to look like it's slicked back or something could maybe work better... You'll need to look into it.
