So I think the thing that bothered me the most last season was watching Majikoi. I knew I should probably stop after episode 6, and anyone who watched that show knows what I'm talking about, but then at episode 10 it does something that just kills me worse than 23 minutes of bad dick jokes.
So often in these harem shows you have generic homeboy 3849 who is in love with generic homegirl 958 while four other generic tropes are doing everything they can for our generic boy's attention to no avail. It's just par for the course. But no, it's MAJIKOI of all shows where our four walking anime tropes go to the generic homegirl 958 and actually tell her if she's not interested in our generic homeboy that she should go get fucked somewhere else and stop treating him like her personal abused pet.
Seriously? MAJIKOI pulls this trick. Fucking MAJIKOI?! Not Love Hina? Someone at the Hinata House didn't get to the point of going to Naru and telling her to stop beating the hell out of the guy the rest of them like and pointedly telling her to back the hell off so they could have their chance to have an actual nurturing relationship instead of the abusive one he's subjected to? It's MAJIKOI that does this and then DOESN'T FOLLOW UP?
Just... fucking... MAJIKOI.
I think I was dulled to this because I was still in the afterglow of Mayo Chiki! which to it's credit had the generic homeboy and homegirl who, you know, liked and respected each other. But the more I come back to this, the more I wonder why the hell someone with a bit more skill hasn't done this, or if they have, how I missed it. I'd love for just once for one of these harem shows to have one of the walking tropes with tits pull the main character aside and say:
"You know love, she's bad for you. I'm good for you. Pull your head out of your ass, drop her, and go with me so you can be happy for the next eight episodes of this show and we can make the drama focus on how miserable the supposed alpha female is for screwing up her chance with you."
/end FUCKING MAJIKOI rant
