Sorry dawg, i was just joking. but really, a lot of people i talk to on the internet just happen to be atheist so... this joke was funny to me.

Its just a matter of society's current opinions on something and how the media spins things with how that "badness" gets blamed. Saying a person is just unstable is not as satisfying (for the masses) than placing the blame on a whole religion or way of life. By doing that people can categorize things, what makes us comfortable as humans...
I believe most religions say the same thing - Be a good person, don't do things that hurt others, act nicely, etc. I think the fact is people take things way too literally sometimes, or they read into it in a way that can support their destructive tendency that already exists outside of the religion.
