I'll be following

Cardfight Vangaurd: having recently gotten into the real life card game.

Haiyore Nyaruko-san: as a fan of Lovecraft, I can't believe they moefied Nyarlathotep . However I have heard this show has caused interest in Lovecraft to boom in Japan.

Accel world: just looks interesting

Nazo no Kanojo X: I've read some of the manga and found it strangely addicting.

Hyouka
Mystery, slice-of-life
A new anime from Kyoto Animation about the members of the high school Classics club. They investigate mysteries in the school. That's really all I can say about the first episode. It was average. I hope the mysteries will get more interesting later on, because the mystery about the locked door wasn't interesting enough.
Best thing about this episode was this screenshot. As expected from KyoAni, this anime looks amazing.

Kids on the Slope still is the best high school slice-of-life anime this season.

Hyouka - Looks great. Boring as hell though.

So finally the last show of this season!

Sci-fi/ Idols
Wait, didn't we already have this show last season? Just like Senki Zesshou Symphogear this anime is about cute fighting idols. In a distopian future where all entertainment is forbidden (really? ), a so-called "guerilla idol group" keep giving live performances while fighting off the military.
I think this story is really... dumb. I have nothing against watching cute girls (I'm still watching Mouretsu Pirates), but I just can't get past the story and character designs. I won't watch this anime any further.


The second episode of Hyouka was just like the first, but there is a hint of a bigger story coming up in the next episode. I like the characters, which is the main reason I continue watching this show. And the art and animation. KyoAni did an amazing job with the realistic backgrounds and the characters who are constantly moving around.

Like, there's no doubt KyoAni can pull off some really awesome animations, the question is that whether the content would be interesting enough to draw my attention. I don't mind pretty pictures, but I prefer a story, or a laugh.

Bit busy this season anyway so I might marathon it later.

What I'm currently following so far:

Sakamichi no Apollon: (First off, I have to say that it's got the best opening I've seen.) So far, it's living up to the expectations I have for it: pleasing to the eye and a plot that keeps me coming back for more. I think this anime is starting to make me like Jazz. Can't wait for more episodes.

Space Brothers: 'Space Brothers' gives me the same feeling I had when I watched 'Big Windup' for the first time, hesitance that slowly turned into joyful wonder. It's awesome and funny and thanks to episode 3, I'll never look at roses the same ever again.

Tsuritama: For an anime that has fishing as the main plot, it's pretty interesting, though I have to say that the backgrounds in the show look like that someone took a photo, put it on photoshop and used an art filter on the photo. (The opening for 'Tsuritama' is fun to watch, with the dancing.)

I guess it's time for an updated list of what I'm enjoying this season.

1) Sakamichi no Apollon: It's amazing, and more still that it's showing flashes of brilliance without really sustaining it for long stretches. It feels like it's still trying to hit it's stride but even that process is interesting. The attention to detail to the musicianship is a winner though, just amazing.
2) Acchi Kocchi: I'm shocked I'm enjoying this so much, but it has this Azumanga Diaoh vibe going for it. Maybe it's the crazy speed it's dishing out it's jokes that make it so that if one's not funny, another's not far behind. Maybe it's Io and Tsumiki's awkwardness. It's just hitting the right notes for some reason.
3) Kore wa Zombie desu ka? OF THE DEAD: I figured they either had to play the scenario straight as an arrow or find a way to crank up the absurdity to 12 (since 11 was reached last season). They're probably at 11.75 right now and still climbing.
4) Fate/Zero: Damn, there's been more motion in four episodes this season than there was in the entirety of the "first" half. I'm interested to see how it ends and leads into Fate/Stay Night and probably will end up watching more Fate when this is done to see where it goes. Consider that a success since I didn't have much interested before that.
5) Jormungand: Yes, it's still holding up the title of "There's not going to be another season of Black Lagoon, will this suffice?"

Strangely still watching Mysterious Girlfriend X and Sankarea too. I like the latter more than the former, and I still liken Mysterious Girlfriend X to Papakiki last sesaon. I REALLY want to like this, if it'd stop grossing me out long enough for me to cement that feeling I'd appreciate it.

Just got up to speed with 'Kuroko no Basuke' and it is the second sports anime that I like (first one being 'Big Windup'). I have to say that by the end of the season, this anime will probably have more female fans if the pictures at the end of each episode have any say...not that I'm complaining or anything...

I have to say, I was ready to write this season off as a big bucket of "meh", but sticking with Space Brothers, and wisely doing a mid-season pickup of Kids on the Slope have completely revitalized my love of anime. I'm even pretty bullish about where Hyouka might go. Hell, even if it disappoints in the end, it's a gorgeous ride.
