Blogger Bios

We all know the hosts have some pretty cool knowledge when it comes to the world of anime. But we’re only human! We can’t be everywhere at once, so that’s why we have bloggers! These are some pretty cool people who help us out so be sure to check them out often on our blog.

CanadaMan

Through his decades, CanadaMan has been hailed under many different names. What hasn’t changed is his love and enjoyment of multiple aspects of life: from sword-fighting to giant mecha anime, from competing in full-contact sports and tournaments to perusing YouTube for great AMVs.

Proud to call himself a tried and true Canadian, he has always informed people (rather vocally at times eh?) that he is from the best country (in his completely biased opinion) in the world, and will continue to do so even from beyond the grave. So come in, sit down, enjoy a hot cup of Maple Syrup and a Tim Horton’s donut, and relax with CanadaMan as he shares with you his thoughts, his travels, his opinions and maybe even a dirty secret or two.

NOTE: Secrets will be sanitary upon release. No one wants to get the Canadian Flu, those unprepared will be, for a short time, transformed into an igloo, a canoe and a small piece of whale blubber simultaneously.

When I started watching anime, I started off easily with simple stuff such as Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon. When I was influenced by Toonami, I started to become more and more interested in this crazy-awesome kind of entertainment. I started looking for as much as I can and eventually graduated to [adult swim], watching stuff like Fullmetal Alchemist and Eureka Seven. It’s continued to remain a prominent fixture in my life and I look forward to writing cool stuff for you guys for some time to come.
I am currently a Music Education major at Duquense University in Pittsburgh, PA, and I’m all about having fun with people. It’s just who I am. I am also a huge cynic. Expect not only praise for some anime but also scathing commentary and criticism on others. Enjoy

Mikhail

Back in 2008 in what is now known across the internet as the year of the sniper we were blessed with 2 mecha animes known as Gundam 00 and Macross Frontier. After witnessing how amazing these shows were I took to the Internets and created this handle to further my love of mecha and anime as a whole. Now i toss my hat into the ring to be the best i can be like no one ever was, and spread my love of Mecha and fantasy (with some Sci-Fi for good measure) anime to all of you.

Mikhail currently resides in New Jersey working as a line cook in a restaurant. Other then mecha anime he enjoys science fiction such as star trek, star wars, stargate, firefly…etc. In his spare time he loves to read, one of his favorites being the Honor Harrington series by David Weber. He is single and currently a member of his local volunteer fire department and is in the process of becoming a first aid squad member and an EMT.

My love for anime is a result of my love for Kaiju – especially Gojira. I began watching Kaiju when I was two years old. This was especially hard on my parents who I drug to many matinees and drive-in’s to watch the latest Godzilla movie. This lead to a love for japanese culture which then lead to my love for Bruce Lee and Shaolin movies which I watch to this day. Then, in 1966, a wonderful thing happened to me – a show about a young racer name “Speed” aired on television. Not only was the animation style different compared to american cartoons I had watched, the characters were more complex and the stories were exciting. I was hooked. I tricked out my bike to look like the Mach-5 and crashed often. To this day, I often react in a Speed Racer way when driving down the street (you know the expression).

Rekka

Anime watcher, game player, and self proclaimed otaku since the age of 11, I love anything fun and interesting! My favorite anime company would be Kyoto Animation, with The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya topping my list of favorite anime by far! I love anime that are cute, and anime that are have an interesting theme. My favorite game series would be Kingdom Hearts, with a theme that I love for the same reason as my favorite anime! I would love to travel to Japan one day, and stay there as long as possible. I can be quite forgetful, and love messing with people sometimes, and I can almost never remember the name of a character, song, band, ect. I look forward to writing ^^

Zeonic Freak
I’m a 90’s guy, I was around during the Golden era of Nickelodeon where Artie was every kids hero and how Stick Stickly was the coolest popsicle on the tube. I also grew up watching 80’s Schwarzenegger movies along with WWF wrestling, and had my first cartoon crush on Jessica Rabbit which introduced me to early puberty at the tender age of 6. I’m as red blooded as any other American, who just so happens to like Japanese cartoons a lot. I came in during the “Toonami wave” of anime fandom in America at the turn of the new millennium with Dragonball Z, Tenchi, Gundam Wing and many more. But seeing how I have always been a history buff, I wanted to look at anime before my fandom hit, to see what I missed out. That turns out, I missed A LOT of things. In my ongoing quest to find relics of the past, I’ve came across women in hardsuits, female space pirates, babes in muscle cars, crying assassins and cops on the edge along with much much more to go. Many of my artifacts I’ve come to know and love so very much, and others I wish they didn’t exist. I also run my personal blog at http://animeofyesteryear.blogspot.com/ where I talk about my findings from anime magazines, VHS tapes and beyond.

Mokuren
So pretty much, I am a 22 year old anime addict, gamer girl, Disney fan, bookworm, blogger, J-pop and rock fangirl, nerd and college student. ^_^ I’ve been watching anime since I was about 10 years old starting off with Pokemon and Toonami like many others, now I love to watch many different series including “Please Save My Earth”, “NANA”, and “Higurashi no Naku Koro ni”. I am also an avid fan of live action series and movies, and a lover of Japanese pop, rock, and visual kei. I am currently working on my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and after that I’m going for my masters in Counseling. But that’s just what I’m going to do while I work on my dream. 😉 I really plan on being a voice actress for a company like Funimation.

DragJester
The DragJester, or DJ for short, has been crossplaying her entire life to the point where she finds it hard to draw the line. She’s even been able to enter the wrong bathroom without any suspicion. We’re still not sure if that’s something she should be proud of, but whatever. In her spare time she likes to watch and redub animes and cartoons, read manga and watch Batman films. Yes, even the bad ones. Her first manga was Yostuba&! and her first anime was Chobits. She loves the AAA podcast and dreams one day of being as host, but we’ll see how blogging works out for her until the men in the white coats come to take her away.

L Lawliet
It all started one afternoon at his grandmother’s. Bored, L Lawliet, a simple child, flipped channels on the living room TV, hoping to find something to watch. He saw a dragon, and heard hard rock playing from the speakers-and that’s when everything changed. Starting off simple, with Ronin Warriors and Dragonball Z, as time went on, his circle of anime expanded to include the Gundam series (particularly G.), One Piece, Yu Yu Hakusho, Full Metal Alchemist and other series that shaped both his worldview and his views on anime and manga as a whole. At the moment, his favorite anime series are One Piece and Tiger & Bunny.

He now wishes to torture-er, bless you with all the information he’s gathered in the form of reviews, retrospectives, and other words that start with r that escape him right now. He’s currently a freshman at Florida Atlantic University, majoring in Communication Studies-Film, Video and New Media. He’s very open, so please, if you have suggestions, come at him, bro! And if you want to chat, he’s up for that too. He hopes you enjoy his little ramblings and penchant for talking in the third person. Geronimo!

Devil_Survivor
I’m 27 years old, been watching anime since I was 14. I mostly watch mecha anime, but I like other types as well. I spent 3 years studying in Norway and began listening to Gundamn there and found this podcast through them. My writing sample is a article I wrote for the Norwegian university student paper in 2008.

Kidd
Hi, Im A student studying Building Design at college. I plan to do Architecture after I finish my current course. I was born in Zambia and had lived there for 19 years until I moved to Australia to study. I draw, I drew my profile picture using MS Paint and a graphics tablet. I also play soccer. My position is right midfield but I can also play in the midfield. I support Chelsea FC from London and support England as well. My main Hobby would be Anime ofcourse. I have been watching anime ever since I was about 5 years old. I didnt know I was watching Anime at the time but I realised later on (this year actually) that most of the shows i had loved while growing up were actually anime. My first “re – encounter” with Anime was back in 2007 when my friend showed me his DVD of Naruto, I immediately fell in love with the animation style and story that I had to have more. I then got myself my first ever Anime DVD and havnt looked back since. I would have to say my favourite series would be Naruto, Neon Genesis Evangelion and Full metal Alchemist. Yeah I copy and pasted that from one of my blogs LoL.

Shion

Hi there, my name is Sean and I’m a second year student of economics at UC Berkeley way over in California. I’ve always loved to write and have been an avid anime and manga aficionado for quite a number of years now. I try to suppress my inner otaku in the hopes of not scaring off girls but you know what? It’s just too hard sometimes! I’ve just recently started listening to the podcast (and loving every minute of it) and stumbled upon the episode calling for bloggers and I thought ‘why the hell not?’ Nowadays, my writing is basically limited to writing fanfiction (Fullmetal Alchemist and Harry Potter being a few of the fandoms I write fics for) so it’d be nice to have a reason to get back into blogging. I used to keep a blog a few years ago but it got a bit too whiny (I was around fourteen at the time) so I stopped it. I promise I won’t write anything whiny. I think it would be a really cool experience to blog about a subject I am quite pas sionate about and putting my writing out there for people to see sounds like a most enticing endeavor.

Folium
Hello My (username) is Folium, I am a minor who has extended experience in writing but limited experience in blogging. For experience in blogging I helped to start the weekly newsletter on www.animetip.com and am the only writer currently there (Feather Thief). AS for writing I also have participated for three years in a contest called NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) in which you write a 30,000 page novel (or piece of sh*t). That requires about 1,500 words a day to write. In that sense I have experience editing, meeting deadlines, and working hard. Finally in anime fandom I have been an anime addict for 6 years now and have enjoyed every minute of it. Sincerely, Folium

Mad Bull
As a youngster I thought a cool job to have would be to go over to Japan and teach English. Now this, like many other childhood dreams faded in the future. I grew up to be your average teenager who liked the usual teenage stuff… sports, movies, wrestling, video games, ect. Until one day during a student ‘appreciation’ presentation, one of my classmates talked about the Japanese anime and manga Prince of Tennis. Now granted I knew about these mediums, having followed the later episodes of DBZ and seeing some Sailor Moon in my elementary days. But this caught me completely off-guard, there were anime with stories based on sports? This was just what I wanted, something I couldn’t in American TV shows. That opened the floodgates, and I began to watch anime in general, seeking out any shows I could find. Fast forward to the present, I’ve stopped going crazy over anime(still watch it) and now go crazy over Japanese sports. My sister even jokingly refers to Japan as my home country, because I’ve watched and cheered for them in many events. I won’t claim it as such, I’m a proud Canadian. Even though I’m doing things regulars guys aren’t like skiping work to watch the Japanese men’s national soccer team win the 2011 AFC Cup. I’m awaiting the day I can fly to Japan and watch a Nippon Professional Baseball game at Koshien Stadium or the Sapporo Dome. Until then, I’ll wake up at 5am when possible and enjoy a game while sipping on some UCC coffee.

Discrimo

A Bio for the Site: One day in late 2008, an Irish teenager was browsing through DVDs in a local(sort of) comic book shop. He asked the clerk if he would recommend anything in particular as he was curious and wanted to start watching anime again. The clerk recommended Death Note(When it was new and cool in the dubbed world so don’t judge.) When that lonely teenager finished watching the first DVD of Death Note he knew he accidentally stumbled into a world filled with epic win. The world of anime, manga, J-Pop, cosplay, internet memes involving anime characters(Including his God, Haruhi Suzumiya.)

However nothing lasts long and before you knew it the Irish teenager nicknamed Discrimo by his friends became an otaku only a couple of months after buying his first anime DVD. If only his younger self could see him now. He takes his sweet time watching anime because he wants to enjoy it. He is a follower of the Church of Mitsugi and is against moe taking over the anime world.

It’s not all good news for him however. His friends seem to ignore him and his anime recommendations and has to talk to strangers online about his number one hobby(Some would call it an addiction) however the people he has met have become awesome friends to him over the past few years and has even created his own podcast with a few of them.

He also likes to ramble on about stuff that isn’t really important for a bio. Also he’s single….

….For a reason.
